The link below is the family tree for the Greene family from Placentia and Point Verde, Newfoundland as it relates to me - Donald J. Ladolcetta. The Greene's have a rich history in both America and Canada. It is my understanding that the original Green was spelled without an e at the end. This Green (a protestant) was a ship's captain out of Boston during the American revolution and sided with the king which resulted in his needing to leave America to avoid problems with the revolution. He moved to Newfoundland and sold his ship to buy land at Point Verde (coincidently Verde means Green in French). While there he fell for a local catholic girl and needed to change his name to Greene with an e to make his name more acceptable to the Irish catholics living there. Please write to me and tell me about your family and inform me how you and your family fit in to the tree and I will try to add your names to the tree. Let us know your family stories and send me your family pictures. Thanks. click the link below for the Greene Family tree |
